Kundalini Shakti in Tantra – Sage Wisdom

“A few words on Kundalini shakti from three different sources:

 Tantrasadbhava Shastra

“Now I will explain to you some very essential characteristics of this Divine Mother. She is supreme, subtle, not limited to any particular school of philosophy or religion. This Divine Mother, called Kundalinī, is placed in the center of the heart. There you will find that Divine Mother, just like a serpent in the sleeping state. Oh Pārvati, there she rests in deep sleep, not perceiving anything other than her own self in a place called mūlādhāra by our masters.”

“This goddess cannot be awakened with force. She can only be awakened by (nāda) supreme I consciousness filled with supreme awareness. To awaken her, the yogī has to churn his point of one-pointedness in the heart, without break, again and again.”

Swami Lakshmanjoo

“She is called Kundalini because she is internal power existing like a serpent in the shape of a coil. Actually, Kundalini shakti is the revealing and concealing energy of Lord Shiva. This Kundalini shakti is not different from the existence of Lord Shiva, just as the energy of light and the energy of the heat of a fire are not separate from the fire itself. Kundalini, therefore, is in the true sense, the existence of Shiva. It is the life and glory of Shiva. It is Shiva itself.”

Baba Muktananda

Within every human being is a great and divine energy called Kundalini. This energy has created the entire unvierse in total freedom. It pervades the universe, and it also pervades the human body and makes it function. This energy has two aspects. Its outer aspect is awake and functioning perfectly; it is this that enables us to carry on all our mundane activities. However, the inner, spiritual aspect of this energy is dormant. When it is awakened through the grace of the Guru, a spontaneous process begins within. Then the awakened energy moves through our system, burning all the impurities in the body.

Tell me, O Lovers Of Shiva, what sort of mad distemper drives Western minds to believe that the mind is the master of Kundalini shakti? What great grace is bestowed on those who understand that She rises and shines in all manner of time and space and in all realms with a heterogeneous luminosity only when the mind is surrendered!”- Markandeya, Song 94.
